About
Dwarf Cavendish Banana (Grand Naine) Banana also known as 'Mons Mari', 'Williams', Williams Hybrid', or 'Giant Cavendish' because high yield (average 30 kgs per plant), long cylindrical fruits with less curvature. Dinar Cavendish is the main export banana because of the fast grower plant and longer shelf life of the fruits.

Dwarf Cavendish Banana (Grand Naine) will ripen more slowly, its flavour will be notably richer and the banana pell can be allowed to reach a yellowish green speckled phase, and yet retain a firm flesh inside. In addition, this variety also can bear bunches with up to 90 bananas and able to grow in hardly and windy environment.

The fruit skin is thick, smooth and yellowish green in colour when ripen. It also has white, fine textured, pleasant aroma and sweet flesh compare to others native varieties. The Dinar Cavendish plant reaches 10 to 16 feet (2.7m-4.9m).

Up to 1200 plant could be planted in an acre of land by tissue cultured technology with spacing of 6 x 6 feet because Dwarf Cavendish Banana (Grand Nine) tissue culture plantlets have a higher survival rate than suckers, freedom from disease causing pathogen ( like as Pseudomonas solanacearum ) and Panama disease at the time of planting in the field, uniform growth, maturity and 15% - 20% increase in yield. Banana plants produced by micropropagation show vigorous and uniform growth with high flowering rate by far shortens the harvesting period compared with plants produced from sucker.
